FOUNDATION BEARING PLATES

The foundation bearing plate of the Lindsey Emergency Restoration Structure is made form structural aluminum and is designed to be placed directly on the ground.  The foundation bearing plate weighs 555 pounds and provides 25 square feet of bearing surface.  It can be secured in place with reinforcing bars driven through the corners.  A more permanent foundation can be provided by placing the foundation bearing plate directly over a buried anchor.

Four one inch diameter reinforcing bars were used to secure this foundation.  Foundations secured in this manner have remained in service for over two and one half years.

GUY PLATES

Guy Plates for the Lindsey Emergency Restoration Structure are made from one-half inch structural aluminum plate.  Guy plates weigh 50 pounds and are available in three styles.  The 7158 or 0° / 0°, guy  plate is used for in-line tension structures.  The 7156 or  0° / 45°, guy plate is used for intermediate guying and full tension dead-end structures.  The 7157 or  45° / 45°, guy plate is used for suspension structures and is the most commonly used guy plate.  Each of the six guy plate attachment holes has a rated pullout strength of 30,000 lbs.

A 7156 guy plate, assembled between two column sections, is used for intermediate guying.  Guy wires are typically attached to the guy plates using anchor shackles, and preformed grips.
