CABLE TESTING

For Flexing Cables and Cords compliance with the IEC Standards is checked by means of test equipment mentioned below.  These tests are of type mechanical endurance tests as well as electrical tests.

FLEXING TEST MACHINE FOR CABLES

The apparatus has a carrier with two pulleys arranged so that the cable or cord is horizontal where it passes between the pulleys.  The carrier moves forward and back over a distance of 1 meter with a speed of 0,33 mm/s. A sample of the cord approx. 5 meters is stretched over the pulleys and in each end being loaded with a weight.

CABLE TESTING-WATER BATH-RESISTANCE OF INSULATION TO DIRECT CURRENT (DC)

The insulation of cables shall be resistant  to the effect of direct current (DC).  Compliance is checked with a sample 5 meters long, immersing water 60 + -5° in which approximately 10 g/l of sodium chloride has been dissolved.  Negative pool is concerned to conductors.

• The equipment consist of an electrical supply unit with control devices and a water bath with heater and circulation propeller.

• Four terminals for 200V DC - individually fused 50 mA.

• DC voltage can be set 0-250V.

• V-meter.

• Electronic regulator regulates the water temperature on/off by a contactor.  Type K thermocouple measures the temperature.
